The battery in our Accord died, so my dad and I replaced it. Now, I thought that if you disconnected the battery, all the radio presets, memory, clock, etc. would be reset. When we connected the new battery, everything but the clock was just as it was before. So my question is, how’s that possible?
Here’s a 930 for you.

Non-volatile memory.

They intentionally put in capacitors that can store that stuff for quite a while. In a VERY simplified manner, much how you can store data in an external hard drive or thumb drive. Neither has a battery.

There could be a little back-up battery in the radio. You could have not got all of the power out of the system by just unplugging/plugging back in the battery. I know on my Subaru to reset everything you have to disconnect the battery and hit the brakes a few times to get all the electricity out or something like that.

There’s capacitors that store enough energy to last a short period (enough time to change a battery). If you had disconnected the battery for a couple of hours you may have lost the presets, seat memory, etc.
